Circuit structure
The Te Whiringa circuit will consist of (10) shearing competitions across the North Island. The Waimarino Shears is the last opportunity to gain circuit points before the final.
The circuit will culminate in a final at the Waimarino Shears as well. To qualify for the final:
• Competitors must participate in at least 6 of the 10 competitions.
• Points will be awarded at each competition, with a competitor’s top 6 scores contributing to their final ranking.
• The top 4 competitors based on accumulated points will qualify for the circuit final at the Waimarino Shears.
Points system
Points will be awarded to competitors based on their placement from the heats only at each Te Whiringa circuit competition excluding the Waimarino Shears:
• 1st place: 12 points
• 2nd place: 11 points
• 3rd place: 10 points
• 4th place: 9 points
• 5th place: 8 points
• 6th place: 7 points
• 7th place: 6 points
• 8th place: 5 points
• 9th place: 4 points
• 10th place: 3 points
• 11th place: 2 points
• 12th place and thereafter: 1 point
Double points @ the Waimarino Shears
To reward participation, commitment and quality shearing, competitors have an opportunity to gain
(DOUBLE) points at the end of the senior grade heats at the Waimarino Shears only.
• 1st place: 24 points
• 2nd place: 22 points
• 3rd place: 20 points
• 4th place: 18 points
• 5th place: 16 points
• 6th place: 14 points
• 7th place: 12 points
• 8th place: 10 points
• 9th place: 8 points
• 10th place: 6 points
• 11th place: 4 points
• 12th place and thereafter: 2 points
Circuit Prizes
To reward participation, commitment and quality shearing, a range of prizes will be up for grabs throughout the circuit. These will be awarded to the top qualifier of the senior grade heats at each Te Whiringa circuit competition.

Final Prizes
The winner of the Te Whiringa circuit will receive:
• Exclusive development partners SHEAR PRIDE 6-week employment contract in
Western Australia Sep-Nov 2025 (return flights fully paid) valued @ $2,000.00 *
*Should the winner become unavailable to commit to the employment contract – this prize will be offered down to 2 nd place and thereon, after determining a recipient
Prize money & ribbons are also awarded to the 4 winners.
• Prize money – TPV $1400, 1 st $600, 2 nd $350, 3 rd $250, 4 th $200
Fees
To participate in the Te Whiringa circuit:
• Competitors must pay an entry fee of $50 to participate in the circuit.
