Improver/Advanced Shearing and Woolhandling.

This is a three-day shearing course open to those who have experience in the industry. Shearers must have achieved a minimum of the "Blue Seal" or competently shear more than 80 adult sheep per day. 

The course will cover instruction and practical training in the following: 

• Health and Safety in the Industry and woolshed environment
• Animal welfare and animal handling 
• Team work
• Comb selection and gear experting
• Machine and handpiece maintenance
• Grinding (sharpening) combs and cutters 
• High level of instruction on pattern, and helping improve quality and tallies
• A pathway to the next level

Woolhandling

• Two-day practical course
• For woolhandlers who have had a minimum of 2 months experience
• Health & Safety 
• Animal Welfare
• Preparation guidelines for crossbred - full wool/2nd shear
• Wool terminology
• Non-technical exercises
• Theory exercises
• Practical assessment for the National Certificate in Woolhandling
