This is a three-day course open to Intermediate - Senior level shearers to gain confidence and better their skills in the shearing industry. The course will involve networking opportunities with like-minded people, team bonding activities, goal-setting, and also cover instruction and practical training in the following: 

• Health and safety in the Industry and woolshed environment

• Animal welfare and animal handling 

• Team work

• Comb selection and gear experting

• Grinding (sharpening) combs and cutters 

• A high level of instruction on pattern, and helping improve quality and tallies

• Practical assessment for the National Certificate in Shearing

Basic woolhandling training is part of the programme. This will take place for short intervals during the first day of the course.

While not shearing, all students are expected to help with the wool flow and running of sheep.

Please bring your own food requirements.

Accommodation will not be provided and, you will need to arrange your own travel during the course.

An Online Animal Welfare & Calm Sheep Handling Course will be sent to you by email and is a requirement for everyone to complete before coming on the shearing or crutching course.
