This is a three-day course open to those who have been shearing in the industry, have experience of shearing strong wool sheep types and would like to either learn or up-skill with shearing finewool sheep types. The course will cover instruction and practical training in the following: 

• Health and Safety in the industry and woolshed environment
• Animal Welfare and Animal Handling 
• Team Work
• Comb selection and gear experting
• Machine and Handpiece Maintenance
• Grinding (sharpening) combs and cutters 
• High level of instruction on finewool shearing pattern
• Helping improve quality and tallies
• A pathway to the next level
• Practical assessment for the National Certificate in Shearing (Finewool)

Basic woolhandling training is part of the programme. This will take place for short intervals during the first day of the course.

While not shearing, all students are expected to help with the wool flow and running of sheep.

Please bring your own food requirements.

Accommodation will not be provided and, you will need to arrange your own travel during the course.
